Franck Goldwasser, better known back in the day as Paris Slim, is a monster player. He plays the roots until they break through the cracks and climb to the sun.
It’s a no brainer that he was nominated for a Blues Blast Music Award!
Slim has been away for quite a while now on a long delayed trip back to his home in Paris. Perhaps you are aware he was reluctant to leave the security of the land he has lived in virtually all his adult life. How has it been going in Europe? Well, he’ll tell you about reuniting with some old friends and playing Lucern Switzerland recently with Ventura ace-of-bass Ralph Carter.
This is a artist’s diary of events, impressions and dreams. It is a chronicle of growth, however reluctant and unexpected.
Slim has returned with the knowledge. Spend an evening with him as he talks about it.
Carl Sonny Leyland was born & raised on the South Coast of England, growing up close to the city of Southampton. As a child he was drawn to the American music which he heard on LP records his father would play. It was here that he developed an appreciation for Dixieland jazz, the rock & roll of the 1950s & the country music of Jimmie Rodgers & Hank Williams. Carl Sonny Leyland appears on occasion with such notables as James Harman, Kim Wilson & Rod Piazza.
