“MISSISSIPPI BOUND” BON VOYAGE CD RELEASE PARTY – Everyone gets a CD!
“One day you’ll be on that beach and these blues will come right back to you” said bluesman Jimmy “Duck” Holmes one hot day in Bentonia, Mississippi.
Delta By the Beach was born with this assurance. The blues ‘ain’t afraid of a location change’.
Now with a year and a half and an album behind them they are about to embark on an exciting adventure. One week after this performance they will perform at the Ground Zero Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi as part of the 2022 Juke Joint Festival.
Come share their excitement as they put the finishes touches on their show and prepare to represent the blues of the 805 in Mississippi!
The “Single of the Month” CD will be released the same day and everyone in attendance will receive a complimentary copy.
About Delta by the Beach
It began with three like-minded musicians preparing for a one-time-only show for Namba Arts. The members would showcase their love for the blues with photos, musical examples, maps and talk.
Milo Sledge played razor sharp guitar and slide. His singing and harp playing rise above the crowd. He has been playing blues in the Ventura area for over two decades.
Doc Ventura writes and sings. He uses a baritone guitar instead of a bass eminisenc of many old classic records such as Elmore James Houndog Taylor Eddie Taylor that lack bass guitar.
Eddie Laymen has paid his dues. He has drummed in the NY jazz scene, LA rock scene, the Chitlin Circuit and number recordings with artist such as The Pontiax, Coco Montoya,David Sanborn, Randy Brecker, Tal Farlow Wynton Marsalis, Jack McDuff, and many others.
After the show they refused to break up and went on to a covid era project. They released a new original blues single once a month for a year. This even included a special Christmas single that was given out for free. They received over a quarter of a million plays on Spotify last year and continue to record new material.
Delta by the Beach plays original rocking, song-oriented juke joint music. The trio has been described as ‘Chuck Berry crossed with Muddy Waters’.
Though their feet are on the beach their heads are in Mississippi.
