About Amy Engelhardt Bio/IMPACT
Composer/lyricist/arranger/cheese enthusiast AMY ENGELHARDT wrote the score for OBA Best New Musical nominee BASTARD JONES (also an O’Neill and Richard Rodgers Award finalist) at the cell theatre NYC (Resident Artist), book/music/lyrics for TRIPTYCH (NY Transit Museum Commission), CONTACT (lyrics, CenterStage Seattle), THE WOODS OF EXETER (Secret Theatre New Works NYC) and A COMEDY OF ERAS (ACT Seattle w/the Flying Karamazov Brothers). A winner of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets Burman Songwriting Award, she co-created TUNE IN TIME, New York’s Musical Theater Game Show (a valentine to the art of collaboration). And in 2019, as Mother Superior of the Chattering Order of St. Beryl in Amazon Prime’s GOOD OMENS immersive promo campaign (Winner: 7 International Clio Awards), she led a convent of Satanic, rock-belting nuns at events in London, New York, Hollywood and Austin and produced their EP Unholy Night for Amazon Music. From 1998-2012, Amy toured the US/Europe as the sole female vocalist/writer for Grammy-nominated, genre-busting band The Bobs. As a solo artist/writer, she’s performed extensively across the US, most notably in Judith Owen & Harry Shearer’s annual CHRISTMAS WITHOUT TEARS (LA/NY/Chicago/SF). Her first CD, Not Gonna Be Pretty (“Carole King meets Meat Loaf”) garnered multiple Just Plain Folks Awards Nominations. She is currently mixing a new CD (FINISH WHAT) which she still insists will be released in 2020. She is the only honorary female member of the Vienna Boys Choir.
IMPACT was initially developed at the HBMG Foundation’s 2020 National Winter Playwrights Retreat in Grand Lake, CO. During lockdown in 2021, a filmed version was co-produced by Nancy Manocherian’s cell theatre (NYC) and The Playhouse at White Lake (Whitehall, MI). Later that year, Amy was invited to screen the film in Syracuse University Remembrance Week, the annual commemoration of the events it chronicles. The stage version was then incubated at the cell (directed by Kira Simring) followed by readings in NYC and Los Angeles. IMPACT was first produced in Emerging Artist Theatre’s New Works Festival (NYC) in October 2022. Amy/IMPACT recently completed an artist residency at the Fish Factory Creative Centre in Iceland in preparation for spring 2023 productions in New York and California.. and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in summer 2023. #lookbackactforward
